After a brief hiatus from the very successful first two laptop battles, Seclusiasis Studios is back with the Philadelphia Laptop Battle 3. This time the word has spread and we see a number of out of towners coming through to strut their stuff. NYC's Velapene Screen and Calmer and Baltimore's DJ Krai are sliding in to compete against the Philly area acts - A/D, At Work, DuranDuranDuran, Generic Man, Jack Horner, Lichtswitch, and Vostek. Many of these producers have been on the scene for a while and have indie releases out, while some are up and coming. Either way their is a diverse range of talent on display and we should see a very interesting competition.

For those that forget, the battle is a 3 round competition of various original electronic music using only a laptop. Think of this competition as a cross between a DJ Battle and a Battle of the Bands, with some tech geeky-ness thrown in (haha).

The response and attendace for the first two Battle was overwhelming. Silk City was filled to capacity both times and we received a lot of positive press, including Music Pick of the Day in AOL's City Guide-Philadelphia, features in Grooves Magazine, Philadelphia Weekly, and more.

This event continues to be backed by some heavyweights in the electronic music scene. Ableton, whose music software �Live� has revolutionized the way electronic musicians can recreate their compositions in the live setting has put their stamp of approval on the night, and will be providing some promotional goodies. Grooves Magzine, which is widely considered the leading magazine for experimental electronic music culture will be on hand to provide the audience and competitors with free magazines. EKS (whose groundbreaking new controller, the XP10, was featured at the Plasa Exhibition in London last month), Drumcore (Submersible's great drum software), and Springboard Media (Philly's largest Apple specialist) are all offering their support as well.

The judges for this battle will be Andrew Parks (writer for URB, City Paper, Grooves, Rockpile, and more), Suzann Vogel (writer for Philadelphia Weekly and more), along with recent Philadelphia transplant from San Francisco - Jeff Hatcher who runs Refinery Records as well as being a DJ and promoter.

The winner will recieve cash and prizes.
